Early pregnancy losses are usually characterized by bleeding or groin pain. In rare cases, the pregnancy and fetus may fail to develop without any symptoms. Early sonographic examination at this time is effective in detecting impending miscarriage, unprevented miscarriage, or undetected miscarriage and in determining whether the pregnancy is developing appropriately.
In multiple pregnancies, early diagnosis of conditions such as chorionicity (e.g., identifying identical or different situations of twins), cervical pregnancy, scar pregnancy, and molar pregnancy increases the success of treatment. For this reason, vaginal ultrasonography, which is more effective in examination when needed, has no disadvantage in terms of pregnancy and is even more effective.
